In the 1970s, Stephen Hawkings, who died in March at age 76, turned the physics world upside down when he announced that black holes aren’t so black after all.
But often he went out of his own field and saw the great challenges and potential threats for humanity in coming years. And he made some bold predictions too about the future which are even considered as some warnings too.
Here are top 3 predictions made by Prof.Stephen Hawkings which are also warnings for Human kind.
Hawkings recognised great opportunities rose from Artificial Intelligence but also saw the potential threat it can cause to the human race and also warned about the dangers in future.
In 2014, he told the BBC that, “the development of full article intelligence could spell the end of the human era.”
In 2017, the professor told Wired Magazine that the AI “genie is out of the bottle”. He was fearful that developments in artificial intelligence will give rise to “a new form of life that will outperform humans”.
If it’s not the robots, it is “almost inevitable that either a nuclear confrontation or environmental catastrophe will cripple the Earth at some point in the next 1,000 years,” Hawking writes.
Hawking also had concerns about climate change, which were amplified by the election of Donald Trump as president in 2016. “Trump’s action [pulling out of the Paris agreement] could push the Earth over the brink, to become like Venus, with a temperature of 250C and raining sulphuric acid,” Hawking told BBC news.
Well for many years now we have tried an endless number of ways to contact aliens and we are still on it until we become successful in establishing contact with extraterrestrial beings. But according to Prof.Stephen Hawkings we should probably stop trying reaching out to them as the result may not be nice.
In 2010, he told the Discovery Channel: “If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans.”
So these were the top 3 bold predictions made by Prof.Stephen Hawkings. And there are many more predictions of Hawkings.
